Welcome,

In this digital realm, you will find my portfolio of various graphic design projects I have completed as of late.

As a current student at San Diego University who is set to graduate in June 2025, my sights are on becoming a graphic designer who helps people create their company's brand identity in this digital landscape. I love projects of various intentions and requirements and pushing my creative limits is my overall goal as a creative.

This is who I am, and I welcome you to my inner workings and creations.

Sincerely,
Shiella

Penguin Books
"Famous Couples" Book Cover

Tasked with creating a book cover of a famous couple of fact or fiction, young or old, I decided to create a book cover for Achilles and Patroclus from the Madeline Miller's book, "The Song of Achilles." Since the publisher was Penguin Books, I wanted to stay true to some of their classic styles and add in various illustrations befitting of both characters and their story. This is my process.

Icons for Awareness

Tasked with creating a campaign to raise awareness about a local event, I chose to focus in on the San Diego Housing Crisis. One of the factors of it? Large-scale investment companies buying multiple affordable apartment buildings and marking up the rents and neglecting the needs of their current tenants. In my campaign, I sought to expose Blackstone, one of San Diego's biggest landlords and lawmakers, of their participation in this crisis.

Glued-Poster-Version-One.jpg

For this graphic design project, we were tasked with creating two broadside posters for a song of our choosing. Through research and our own personal perspectives, we would create two posters that would reflect the energy, tone, and themes of the song.

Through imagery and creative typography, we would produce posters that would reflect what we as students have been learning about color, scale, intentional grid systems, and typography.

Six Steps Information Booklet

Tasked with creating an informational booklet, I chose to pay an homage to one of my most cherished games - Five Nights at Freddy's - Security Breach. In this booklet, I created a 'cheat sheet' of sorts that will help the viewer pass one of the 'boss battles' of the said game. Through this assignment, I practiced my illustrative skills as well as spreadsheet organization.

In this UI/UX project, students were tasked with creating a map and guide-based app about a niche of our choice. As someone who loves sustainability and fashion, I chose to create an app where users could explore the various thrift shops centered in the Southern San Diego area.

Mockup Example (1).png

In this UI/UX project, I wanted to follow the principles of design thinking to creatively and systematically create an app on Figma that would facilitate a user's shopping experience. In this project, I prioritized designing an accessible yet intuitive app where the user could feel recognized and validated whenever they used the app - that they were the focus of this shopping experience.

On a weekly basis, I analyzed and broke down the core properties of various UI elements. With it, I would practice implementing them into design systems of my own choosing to create an interface that reflected what I had learned that week!
