Music Broadsides
For this graphic design project, we were tasked with creating two broadside posters for a song of our choosing. Through research and our own personal perspectives, we would create two posters that would reflect the energy, tone, and themes of the song.
Through imagery and creative typography, we would produce posters that would reflect what we as students have been learning about color, scale, intentional grid systems, and typography.

Electric Love by BORNS refers to the euphoric and energizing experience of developing attraction and romantic feelings towards another person. The song belongs to the band's album titled, "Dopamine," which is a substance within the body that promotes feelings of pleasure and satisfaction. Even if temporary, one craves this sort of electric love like how one grows addicted to substances that make them feel uplifted and free. it's because of this blissful euphoria that the artist is driven to chase after their partner's presence since it sparks a feeling within them in a way like never before. Electric love is bright, bold, and passes like lightning - quick but powerful.

For the first poster, I made the decision to create a logotype that would reflect lightning due to its similar themes of intensity and energy. Since I wanted to stay true to the allusion and connection between electricity and lightning, I altered the strikes of the logotype so that it would reflect the erratic nature of lightning strike, similar to that of branches, I also wanted to create a strong contrast between the type and the background by choosing colors that would both complement each other and stand out against each other.
For the second poster, I wanted to step away from the lightning imagery that was the primary focus for the previous phase. Instead, I wanted to focus on the rush of feeling that comes from being in a concert. At a concert, energy is contagious within the audience and attendees, which matches well with the liveliness of the song. With this poster, I experimented with a purple monochromatic look and an energetic grid-system that would reflect themes of exhilaration and vibrancy.
